Rising Stars: Mama Cāx

17 07 2019

Mama Cāx, a Haitian-American model and disability advocate, was diagnosed with bone and lung cancer at aged 14, which led to the amputation of her right leg.

Cāx, who now wears a prosthetic leg, first came into the spotlight in 2016, when she was invited to walk in a fashion show at the White House, highlighting adaptive clothing and inclusive fashion, and has since become one of the faces of Tommy Hilfiger's adaptive line, featured on the cover of Teen Vogue, and signed to JAG Models. As well as modelling, Cāx has partnered with the UN, given a speech as part of UNICEF’s Day of the Girl, hosted body-positive workshops, and continued to use her profile to discuss disability rights, sexism, and racism. This year, the 29 year old is working with Olay on its Olay Sun campaign, promoting its SPF range.
